For the can to actually collect oil it needs to be inline with the PCV valve. Engine vaccum is pulling air out of the crackcase through the PCV. Fresh air is entering from the front breather.

Can on the front breather = No oil in can.

Can inline with PCV = Oil in can.

Hooked up Cusco's, J"s and Spoon's way doesn't make the can work as an oil seperator. At best they are a remove breather, without a PCV. At worst the let unfiltered air back into the crankase and intake manifold.

The second picture looks correct, It doesnt make any sense in the first pic, no oil appears to collect nor makes any sense oil would go into that tube. Great Thread!

Also which product is suggested to buy??

What setup doesn't make sense?
I can guarantee My oil catch tank actully works, unlike the Cusco pics.

My catch tank is homemade from an old AC reciever/drier.

The second set up looks correct, or at least makes more sense. If you have a tube connected to the first outlet of the valve cover no oil should exit that outlet becuase on my old b series, i allways let it open or bought an breater filter on it. But when connected to both it should creat some tipe of vaccum where the oil will exit into the catcan- and the other moist/cleaner air will exit back through or what not

If the second picture looks correct to you and makes more sense, then you don't have a clue as to how the system works. If you want a catch can that does something other than bling, set it up the way Slows2k said.
