Default Pulling Cylinder Head Bolts

I've got the motor on the stand right now but I can't pull these cylinder head bolts. They move a little (1/16th of a turn). They feel like they are torqued at 500 ft/lbs. I've never felt head bolts this tight. So my question is... Are they suppose to be this tight? Is there some odd method to pulling them? Thanks for the help in advance.

are you turning them the right way? if so then I have no idea why they wont come loose unless you are using an amazingly small wrench and dont have much leverage.

Make sure you use a wrench with as decent adaptor/socket on it...you wouldn't want to shear/round the heads off.

Let them soak in penetrating oil for a few hours too.

If you didn't know already (but have to check), lefty loosy, righty tighty.

hahaha yes I was turning the right way. I did break them loose with one heavy duty breaker bar. They just didn't want to come out. I didn't round/shear any bolts thankfully. I just found out I will need a new rod though and number 2 rod bearing spun but I knew that before I pulled the head of course. Thanks for the help though I'll try to figure out how to post some pics on here of everything.

I didn't want it to turn more than a 1/3rd of a turn so impact wasn't really something that I wanted to use. I'll still try and get these pictures in here.

Isn't it more like 22 ft-lbs + three 90* turns? I'm guessing that's more like 80-100 ft-lbs.
