pulled out a sensor on accident
A couple of weeks a ago my starter was acting up. VERY long story short, it turned out that the little wire that goes into the starter had come out. Anyways while I was underneath the car putting the wire back in, I seem to have knocked out a sensor. It is connected to the same wire as the wire to the starter before branching off a few inches before it gets to the starter, so I know it has to go somewhere around there, but I can't see in there well enough to figure it out. It is a small cylinder with a little prong sticking out the end. My check engine light is on now and I have to get a smog check to renew my registration. If anyone has experience with this please help.

What you should / could do is get the CEL code so you know what the fault is.
Much easier to work your way back.
From what you describe where you may have damaged a sensor (starter area) IMO it could be the Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2s).
Its located at the and of the Exhaust Manifold, just before the cat.
Or it could be the Secondairy HO2s on the cat itself.
Succes.
Let us know what you find.
