Default pulled ECU fuse, car still starts?

So I pulled the ECU fuse (back up), and to make sure it was the right one I tried to start the engine and it did so I thought I pulled the wrong fuse but after double checking I did pull the right one..shouldn't pulling this fuse not allow the car to start?

No, pulling the backup fuse will not prevent the car from starting.

Also if you pull the fuse you can still get a flashing cel if you have a major mess up!

You can still drive with the BACK UP fuse pulled. It just won't idle very well and it'll run on default settings. The ECU will not learn new driving parameters.
Not really recommended.

That is except when you autocross or hit the track.

This puts you back to the default fuel and timing maps without any timing or fuel cuts it might have learned on the streets.

While the fuse is out your AC fan & radio won't "remember' that they were on when you turned the car off.

I've never had the idle issues that so many people talk about when I run without my back up fuse.
