Maguire's Tech Protectant seems to keep all rubber nice and wet.

Everything else I've tried either dries up or attracts dirt like mad.

I always spray ArmorAll on my boots and has worked OK for me.

i don't get why white lithium is bad if it's a lubricant as silicone dries up almost immediately where lithium sticks and imagine taking a jar of grease and dipping your hands in it and spreading it on the boots. It still protects it just like lithium so why can't you use lithium on boots?

I just want to understand why silicone is better than white lithium grease for rubber, I'm not trying to argue I just don't understand, the silicone dries up withing seconds, I guess it sinks into the boots, but the white lithium like sticks to it like grease fending off water and stuff, iono I'm just wondering.

It has already been mentioned in this thread that lithium grease with accelerate breakdown/corrosion of rubber.

White lithium grease is a petroleum based lubricant. Petroleum eats away at plastic and rubber.

While it may be thicker and stick better, all that is doing for you is ensuring that it stays attached to the rubber longer so it can do the maximum damage.

Honestly, if everything you've read, and everything anyone has said on here tells you to not use lithium on your rubber boots, then why the heck would you continue to question it?

Actually never mind, go ahead and leave it on there. Make sure you update this when you cv boots crap out so we know exactly how bad it actually is for our cars.

Granted - it was written a few years ago, it could be in the new Owners Manual....or he had no idea it was in there. Either way....doing it is good.
Just FYI, my MY04 manual (the online version anyway), says:

"Inspect the tie rod ends, steering gear box, and boots"

at 30k under both normal and severe driving patterns.
