Proper sequence for tightening the oil pan bolts ?

Please note that even thought there is a described sequence, the specific order isn't that important. Just be sure to snug bolts in a way that evenly compresses the oil pan against the block and do so in a step-wise manner.
Apply the same concept to the oil pan tightening sequence as you do in snugging up your lug nuts. Do so in a cross-wise manner, first finger tight, and then in two more steps of increasing torque to the final value.

Up to a point but with relativly large surfaces I would recommend starting in the centre (as described on the picture) and work your way outwards.
