propeller shaft cv change
I have two propeller shafts. One has a 2 inch wide dent (never heard a thing, I swear) and is a bit outside runout spec. But the CV joints on it have no play under hand inspection. The other shaft came from salvage. Straight, but has a small amount of rotary play in one cv.
Is there any reason I should not swap a no-play cv joint from the dented shaft to the straight one?

A little bit of play is ok, at worst you'll hear a little clunk stopping the car as you back up for the first time, and brake going forward the first time. What you don't want is to be able to turn the shaft more than 1/8th of a turn without moving the flanges for the diff or tranny.
