I believe the RC 550 is peak and hold so it requires resistor box.

cbender if the RC's need a resistor box, then just get the UR 600cc kit for $460. They have everything you need in the kit.

Thanks, Jenner. Hybrid, I'm not sure what you mean. In any case, I'll post RC Engineering's response on Monday once I speak with them.

They may be plug and play for the S2K, but they may not be plug and play for the AEM EMS. That's what you should ask them (if a high impedance resistor box is required for those injectors for usage with the EMS).

By looking at the pictures Jenner provided, the UR injectors are low Resistance therefore requires the usage of a resistor box.

AEM EMS requires injectors to be high resistance in order not to fry the ECU. 550cc injectors and larger are pretty much all low resistance. Whatever brand of 550cc or larger injectors you get, make sure you have a resistor box. The resistor box can be found on any 89-91 CRX SI or 90-93 Accord at the junk yard. Or you can buy a new resistor box for like $90 average from Honda dealership.

Thanks to all of you for the advice. I'll put the questions to RC Engineering on Monday and will post whatever I learn so everyone knows the answer. It sounds as if it's a pretty easy thing, regardless, which is nice (for a change!).

Best,
CB

Update:

RC Engineering says that they sell 550s in BOTH low and high impedence.

AEM says that injectors need to be HIGH impedence (this confirm's Hybrid's comment) to match the stock injector impedence.

Given this, it seems an easy installation: just buy the drop-in high impedence 550's (they claim no spacers are needed and that these are complete DROP-IN's) and move on to other things.

Hopefully and in theory, at least! I've learned never to hold my breath with these things.

Thanks to all of you for your help.

Chris, thanks again for the generosity of this post.

In the spirit of sharing with the community, here's where I stand these days:

I've bought (i) the AEM EMS and AEM static fuel pressure regulator ($1170 shipped, still in the box, from Sky Chicken) and (ii) RC Engineering's 550 high impedance injectors with pigtail connectors ($432 directly from RC Engineering).

I've also ordered AEM's new wideband O2 sensor -- they're shipping to vendors this week. It doesn't come with a display, but it's also going to cost only about $450 or so, and I see some advantage in buying from the same vendor that makes the EMS. I was on the fence about the merits of a display and finally concluded that I
