Problems starting car after being driven awhile
Hey guys,
I have a 2007 ap2 with a K&N Intake and Tanabe Exhaust.
Problem occurs after I drive the car for awhile. Let's say I drive it for awhile and the car is all warmed up and when I stop and turn off the car, turning it back on is sometimes hard. I would have to push the start button while giving it a bit of gas to get it to turn over.
I've been told it maybe the battery, but the car only has 22000 miles and I figure its fine, but any other ideas?
Is this normal on the ap2? I know people have starting problems after a spin out, but I'm having these issues just when I drive around. It also seems to happen after the car is driven for awhile in hotter temps.
Any ideas?
Julian

Do you have a short ram intake??? If so, your problem might be attributed to "heat soak" from the intake that you have. You might want to consider going with stock air intake or a cold air intake for that matter.

I do have a short ram. What is heat stroke and what are it's symptoms?
1. Warm your car up by driving it (not just sitting in the driveway with the engine running), shut it off and restart it right away as to not let it sit and "soak up" alot the engine bay heat.
2. Warm it up sitting in the driveway with the hood open, shut it off leave the hood open and restart.
3 Re-install the stock airbox, or move the intake filter to a cooler place in the engine bay.
If any of these solve your issues, you'll know if it's heat soak... GL let us know what happens...

I had this exact problem until one day after a stop at a gas station, the car wouldn't start again. Turns out the connection between the ground wire and firewall was hanging by single strand of wire and had finally snapped off. I replaced it with a thicker gauge ground wire and have never had even the slightest warm start problem since.
