(I still get a chuckle out of how you described your "light coming on" to the service advisor in the interrogation room.)

Joe:
I am experiencing the same problem. I have an '01 that is doing the same thing.
17,000 miles - light on....codes P0301, 02, 04. 4 days in the shop. Diagnosis: "bad gas" $815 repair bill
18,500 miles - light on...codes P0301, 02, 03, 04. 3 days in the shop. Diagnosis: valves needed to be adjusted. No charge...$815 refunded rom 1st visit.
20,000 miles - light on...codes P0301, 02, 04. Been in the shop a week now. Dealed has replaced the ECU.
Unlike you, I am totaly dissatisfied with the service I have received from my dealer. They do not appear to know anything about the car and refuse to return my phone calls.
I have had several conversations with American Honda Customer Service in CA. They have been great.
The dealer has, on several occasions, said that they will have a "Honda Engineer" come look at the car. At this point, he has not appeared. My car is still in the shop and I have no idea whan they will let me havre it back. The new ECU has corrected the problem for now but I have every confidence that in 1500 miles the light will be back.
While I am sure it does not make you feel any better....you are not alone with this problem.

It frightens me too that there is no record of my problem at tech-line. I first experienced the issues on July 26, 2001. That was the first time the car was in the shop. The second time was August 17, 2001. Everytime the car has been in the shop, I am told that the tech is talking with the "experts" at tech-line. That is the excuse I am given for the delays I experience.
While I have nothing positive to say about the service writer, service manager, service director or corporate service manager, I can say that the tech that is doing the work is very good. He too is by the book. He talks to tech-line for guidance and has performed all of the tests. Like your's, all came up clean.
This afternoon I was told that they pulled my fuel tank and fuel filter and cleand them both. They then put in "high octane" gas and it now runs "wonderfully". However, they still want to do more test......
I hope this helps others because being a "test case" isn't fun.

I've had the check engine light on for awhile now. It always stays on when the car is running. Oddly, I don't feel anything wrong with the car. I've pusehd the car hard and it revs like a champion. Vtec-land ---> still no problem. Does anyone know what this could be? It's probably been almost a month since the light first came on. I also noticed the light was on after I got it back from the body shop. Any ideas guys?
