Unhappy Problem with Vtec

I know you have to let the motor warm up to 3 heat bars so thats not the problem. Sometimes when I crack on it Vtec dosent engauge. I think I am over due for an oil change so could that be the problem? My oil light came on for like 2 seconds then went off. Could that mess with the vtec? Please help.

Running low on oil could cause your problem. Check it right away. The owners manual does state to check your oil every time you fill up with gas. The car does consume oil at times.

By the time your oil light flickers during normal operations, you are DANGEROUSLY low on oil. You should really be checking your oil level frequently. If you do not, you will need to change your username to "SlowestS2K". (Not because your VTEC won't work but because your engine will be KAPUT!)

vtec works by having oil pressure press a pin that locks the roller-rockers together so both valves are on the high cam lobe. If there is not enough pressure it will not engage.

xviper is right, if the oil light ever comes on you have problems. Take care of your car!!!
