Default Problem with Harbor Freight Siphon Pump Kit

I can't seem to siphon anythng with my new pump. I've ensured the the two outlets are tight and being used correctly but it still fails to siphon both differential fluid (Mobil 1 75w90) and water. I've noticed that the pump is not sealed air tight to the container. Could this be the problem? Thanks guys.

make sure you have the tubes in the right spot. ie; the suction tube in the fluid.

Yeah I've ensured that the tubes are going in the correct place (tube near the pump is the intake tube, etc).

I have had and used this pump for years, no problem, I will say though, it does take some work to get it started sometimes....

Pump more, pump harder, don't worry, your palms won't grow hair

Is it normal for there to be such a big gap between the shaft of the pump and the container though? At the moment, my pumps seems rather futile so I'm deciding whether to give warranty a call.

You get what you pay for. I used mine one day on 5 cars and it is now trash. It will not even pump water.
