Problem with Driver's Window
Well, it was boud to happen. My S2000 actually has a (very very slight) mechanical problem after nearly 9 years and 52,000 daily driven miles.
When I try to "auto down" the driver's side window (either with the window switch or when putting the top down), the window goes down part way then stops. It acts as though it has hit a snag. You can physically hear/feel a very light "thunk."
Once it stops, I can close the window manually by physically holding the window switch, and it continues all the way down with no further drama.
It doesnt do it every time, but it does it maybe 30% of the time I roll the window down, and more frequently when I put the top down (probably 60%).
Any ideas?

Any troubleshooting done? I'd pull the door cover to find if anything is obstructing the window. I believe in auto down if it catches a slight bit of resistance it will stop hence manual will drag it past.

I am certain you are right. It is meeting enough resistance somewhere in its travel that it is causing the auto-down to stop. However, it isnt a real physical resistance, because the window finishes rolling down manually.
Any ideas?

There was a TSB on early AP1s for the driver's window auto-down regulator; not sure if your '02 was affected but you might check the TSB archive here on the site.
