Default Probably a stupid question, but.....

remember in old American cars, when car was running hot or outside temp were high and etc.,
people would turn there heaters on to help cool the engine...
does this old trick work with modern cars?????
I ask because today it was a scorcher in Vegas, and lots of traffic
and I tried it

Well It seems to help a little, and I was just wondering if it was real or the placebo effect

Any thoughts?

Sure it works, the heater core is just another radiator and with forced air.. but you get the heat! I'd buy a bigger radiator rather than use the one that heats you.

You should not need to do anything.. the car seems to be fine (except for reduced performance) in heat over 110F.

Marco......long time no talk. The trick is to not run your air conditioner first. (ROFLOL)

Running the heater should help but I'm surprised you'ld need to. Are you at 4 bars? Have you checked the reservoir?

P.S. Call me on the landline some time.

Im sure if the capacity of the main radiator is not exceeded then your just making yourself uncomfortable. The thermostat just closes a bit.
