Preventing Soft Top Wear and Tear

I live in Texas and have tried Gorilla tape to prevent tears in worn areas of my roof. It was unsuccessful because it would not stay put. The glue was soft in the heat of the weather and allowed the tape to slip as the roof went up and down. Left a very sticky, hard to remove residue. However, the glue / tape was only visible from the inside when using like this.
Also have tried Gorilla tape over torn areas in other part of the roof. Same issue made it unsuccessful. The gorilla tape glue was indeed visible from the outside because the tape was unable to hold the tear shut. So the tear gapped open leaving the back of the Gorilla tape exposed.
I tried a couple other tapes also unsuccessfully but didn't write down which ones. Ended up replacing the top using the information given in parts of this forum. Next time I start to see wear, I plan to reinforce the area using patches of old roof material glued with something recommended in this forum. Want to see how long I can make the next roof last as I open and close it daily.

Thank you. The wear points have been filed down by the previous owner when the soft top was replaced with an aftermarket. I still see stress marks after putting the top back. I will not be using gorilla tape.

http://m.homedepot.com/p/Loctite-1-f...0694/202487188
This loctite worked good for redoing seams that come un-glued. Did not bleed through to other side. Fast dry clear finish. If your to repair a hole with this stuff you will need a patch of vinyl to glue to. Take your time and use a small brush. You will have to hold glued areas until dryed.
Not sure how long it will last so far so good![wink.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
And use 303 to reduce UV damage this is a must. link below..

I bought some cove base from Home Depot and it seems to be working well. Flexible and provides a nice layer of protection when the elbow folds down and wears the problemtic areas. Still too early to make any definitive conclusions, but I've opened the top ~10-15 times and things look pretty good. No binding, no additional wear detected thus far.
