Default Preventing Rusted Lug Nuts

I am doing some maintenance on an older car. I had a hard time removing the lug nuts and the wheel was rusted to the hub. What are some tips to minimize rust in these areas?

(I assume this would apply to the S2000 as well).

THANKS!

I wet myself......ALL we use, in Browning R&D, to lube guns is Boeshield T-9. The stuff is awesome and endures heat and moisture. I worked in aerospace for 20 years and never heard of the stuff. Went to guns and it is the bomb......Thanks for spreading the word on this product as I use it on "Electra" wherever I see fit.

Glad I could make your day Utah. In celebration, I went outside and emptied my 9mm into the sky and then ran back inside before they came back down

I use T-9 on everything on "Shiney" btw

Be careful when putting anti-seize (copper grease), or any lube on wheel studs.

It changes the torque needed to keep the lug nuts tight on the studs.

Nothing worse than loose nuts on your stud.

I agree w/Coral Doc.. I live in Rochester, NY and put never seize on my lug nuts/studs every Fall when I rotate to my winter tires. I've been doing this for 15 years on Volvo's, and Chevrolets. I don't torque my wheel nuts to a specific torque: I just use a 3/4" breaker bar and get them tight. I haven't had a wheel fall off yet!

The key is to only use a small amount (half fill the nut), so that the excess doesn't "flow" out onto your rotor..
