Preventative Maintenance Question

Preventative Maintenance Question
Hey all,
I thib8k my TCT (timing chain tensioner) needs replacement. I started hearing the ticking sound today. Sounds like a pebble is stuck in my tire or a card stuck in a bicycle wheel.
I am thinking of doing my TCT, banjo bolt and Valve spring retainer. To complete all the "preventative Maintenance" of s2k.
How many hours should a mechanic charge me to do all of this? And approximately how much are all these parts?
Thank you for the info in advance!

Do not bother with banjo bolts...tons of people tracking without them and very few failures.
If you want peace of mind for valve spring retainers (only do this if you have an AP1), should be a 2-3 hour job for a good mechanic. The only way these become damaged is from a mechanical over-rev. If you just have a street vehicle probably another thing not worth doing IMO.
I cannot give you prices on labor as I have no idea what rates are in your area.

Get Billman's TCT and change it yourself.

First thing I did when I bought my GPW with 72k a couple of months ago was purchasing the Billman TCT. Car drives great. Best TCT in the market. Installation was fairly easy. Use Billmans instruction but if you are a visual person, just search Billman TCT on Youtube.

[QUOTE=HawkeyeGeoff;24448483]TCT can be done in about 10 minutes hood up to hood down; get the Billman's TCT.

Yes, agree with all this. But, if you have ap1, and if you have not inspected valve retainers, next time you do a valve adjustment give the retainers a good visual inspection to confirm they are ok. Unless the engine has been mechanically over rev'd they should be fine.
