Power steering
Hi guys,
Ive got a problem with my power steering, its stiffer turning left than right.
I confirmed the fault by measuring and takes apx twice the force to turn left.
theres no EPS fault light so thought it was the rack but did some checks and found that its not getting the same power in both directions, i checked the resistance on the torq sensor (as in the manual) and its ok.
Ive ruled out the speed sensor so recon it can only be the EPS CPU Would be good to try a proved EPS module to see if this is the fault before replacing the rack
SO.... is there anyone in the northampton area that would be ok with a quick swap-over of their EPS that would be great???
Obv this might be a bit nerveracking for anyone without the technical confidence, honestly its fine
If youve got any other ideas that would be good too!
Cheers Chris

I can backup what Chris is saying. It's three connectors and four bolts.
Chris, if it turns out the EPS control unit is dud I have a spare. Of course I'm on the other side of the world.

lol, thanks!
Ive resigned to the fact that im goin to need a replacement rack at about £200 second hand
I eliminated the EPS control issue by reversing all the wiring on mine in the hope that the prob would reverse too - but no.
Ive checked all the ball joints, universal joints, tracking, camber and even the teeth on the rack and all ok.
Just cant work out why its only in one direction??? the torque sensors prob more from honda than a complete 2nd hand rack anyway.
Oh well
Thanks

I've had the same issue for over a year. Mine turns to the right if I let the wheel go, but the allingment has been checked multiple times it checks out fine. Looks like the only fix is the expensive fix = a new rack. I've lived with it for a while now.
BTW, it hasn't effected tire wear, which was my biggest concern. Besides the constant pull to the right it drives fine.

Hockey, thats a bit strange too mines only stiff when turning,
I do know that the EPS control saves the center position and that it has to be set manualy by pluging it in at a honda garage.
it has to be done when a new control unit is fitted, dont know if that would cause your prob but your eps might have lost its setting??
