Default Power loss in vtec.

Hey guys I’m having some troubles I can’t figure out. When I shift into 2nd and do a pull past vtec, I can feel like a slight power cut off once it gets to like 7k-7500rpms. Very noticeable in the accelerator. Just feel like it stops making power for a second. Doesn’t really do it in any of the other gears. Any help would be appreciated. Again it isn’t a dramatic power loss or bogging. It’s just very slight sometimes.

Couple of questions:
1.) You have enough oil in the engine?
2.) Engine is sufficiently warmed-up?

yes sir. I’m very anal about the upkeep of my car. I don’t even drive it until it’s at operating temperature. Someone else was saying it could need tuned? The air to fuel ratio smells rich.

These cars run inherently rich as is. Have you checked out your VTEC solenoid gasket, the one with the little basket that can get gunked up and clogged?
