Default Powder coating the pullies?

I picked up a set of Rick's pullies which were annodized red. Unfortunatly it's a darker red that doesn't really match the red powdercoating I have done allready. I am considering getting the pullies powdercoated, but wanted to see what everyone thought about doing that.

I am not sure if it's even possible as there are bearings on some of the pullies, but assuming it's even possible will it unbalance the pullies enough to cause any dammage or problems?

Probably not the best idea IMHO. Powdercoaters can spray a uniform coating... but even still I would be worried about the balancing issue. I would also be worried about belt slippage from the increased material thickness and the powdercoat material itself also (unless you want to mask the grooves before you powdercoat it) .

But you could always experiment and let people know!!!

Also PC is very soft compared to the hard annodized finish on them now. PC is rated on the pencil scale. You remember the #2 pencil. It is about the same as PC.

I've got a set of pulleys that had been powdercoated as well. The previous owner had the each pulley fully powdercoated (no masking of anything)...obviously, the bearings weren't pc'd.

The pc wore off on the areas the belt came in contact with the pulley. Otherwise, they worked just fine in his car. I watched them spin, and even drove his car before we pulled them in my garage.

They are for my Integra, so I'll let you know how they feel once I get them in. BTW, if you're looking to go black, I happen to have Rick's black set that haven't gone in. We could swap if that'd interest you.

I wanted to go red. I may just scrap the idea and sell the pullies.
