Possible valve noise????
I drove my car (S2000-2002) to work the other day, car was performing with no noticable issues. I get to work and stop in the parking lot with the engine still running and I hear a strange noise from under the hood. The car has 44, 000 miles on it with AEM CAI only engine mods. The noise sounds kind of loud with the hood open, but goes away at 3300 RPM and stays away if the engine is kept above 3300 RPM. I have not driven it to the Honda dealer yet for service because I want to remove the CAI and re-install the stock air box, if I have too.
2 questions:
Does this sound like just a valve adjustment issue?
Will my CAI void my extended warranty (70,000) miles if I take it to the dealer with the CAI still installed? (dealer said it would one service before)....
Thanks in advance...

1) generally, a valve adjustment need for a system such as in the S2000 would make noise over a wider range of RPm than you have described, but it is possible. I have had valve noise in HYDRAULIC lifters that only affected a certain RPM range, since the lifters were wearing and the oil was leaking down wrong, but I would not expect that in the S2K which does not use hydraulics, but "followers" if my memory serves me right. Most engines in my experience that need mechanical adjustment make a noise at idle when they are calling our for attention.
2) Haven't you asked and answered your own question? - if the dealer is one of those hyper types and has indicated that your warranty claim would be denied on the presence of the AF alone, it is not worth the risk if it turns out to be a serious engine problem, is it?
