Possible over-torque of axle nut?

I thought I might be in the over tightening camp and started to read about snapped spindles from overtight nuts. One guy from my area had one go recently.

I went back and redid it and posted it in the thread.

Once you overtighten a fastener, it experiences plastic deformation. You can't undo it; it is permanently deformed.

Given the size of the fastener and moment of force in your application, I really doubt that you overtightened the bolt.

Are both axles OEM? The one on the right looks different.

I haven't the foggiest... I got the car about 6 months ago with 128k on it. The only service records in the console were oil changes and a VTEC solenoid replacement from the dealership I got it from.
