Is it possible to do a 'fly by wire' to throttle cable conversion?
I'm looking at s2000's and am going to pull the trigger on one shortly. An older lady for one reason or another has a 2008 in pristine condition in a container in her backyard. (go figure) She is going to give me what I perceive to be a great deal on such a clean s2000. I am partial to the AP1 for the quicker steering and the higher red line but the thing I really can't stand is fly by wire in the later ap2's. The deal is good enough I'm wondering if it's possible for me to do a conversion back to a throttle cable. Has anyone done this? Heard of it? Potential problems doing it? Thanks in advance.

Just out of curiosity, what is it about fly-by-wire that you don't like?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I have a MY00 and MY07. If there was a palpable delay, I would definitely notice by jumping out of one and into the other. And I notice *everything*
The only palpable difference with DBW cars is the little weird dip in the mapping when you feather the throttle in and out.
The DBW cars (especially 08-09's) are the most desirable, BTW. So if this lady is giving you a good deal, don't squander the opportunity.
No there is no easy way to delete the DBW. The Throttle, ECU, wiring, VSA, ABS, etc etc all tie into each other. You would need to find a crashed 00-05 AP2 and painstakingly redo the wiring and swap over all the million necessary parts. And you may not be emissions compliant afterwards. It's not worthwhile.

Edit...
I recommend passing on this car as it is DBW. But pls give me the person's contact details for unrelated reasons.

On a serious note, though... isn't DBW desirable cuz you can tune it much easier? I mean, I love my throttle cable... it's adorable. But if I could wiggle my nose and have DBW with my car otherwise staying as it is, I'd do it.
