Possible CEL problem
Before i ask, yes i have searched but couldn't find a solution to my possible problem.
When i turn the ignition and my cluster lights up, my CEL stays on rather then dissapears.
This doesn't happen in my friends Ap1 and i was just a little paranoid if there is a slight problem im not aware of?
Help me out anyone! is my light suppose to stay on or go off when ignition is turned!?

Ok this is what happens.
Put key in ignition.
Turn ignition.
Gauge lights are all on as well as CEL
Start motor
CEL is off.
Now heres how it happens with my friend.
Put key in ignition
Turn ignition
Gauge lights are all on, CEL is on for about 3 seconds then its off
Start motor
CEL remains off.
Edit: sorry for not making myself clear the first post.

Ive noticed that your friend is a ap1 and your is a ap2, could it be that the cell system is different between both s2000's? Also as long as the cell light doesnt stay on or blink while engine is runing, you are fine and have no issues(although if your a bit worried have someone with a scanner check for codes).

^^ I agree w/ integral212 & Slows2k, you have an ap2 and your friend has an ap1. The ecu's have different programming between the ap1 and ap2 cars. The different programming includes the start up sprocedures for the system to go through. It's a very small difference but apperantly enough to where you noticed it. Your car is fine...Stop worrying and go have a beer, if you're old enough and not an alcoholic.
