possible ABS (anti lock brake system) issue AP1
Hello
So recently when i press my brake at around 20mph and less, i get a weird kind of grinding feeling on my brakes. my mechanic is saying it is the ABS system and we checked it but seems like there is no fault with the system nor the sensors. could it be another issue besides the abs?
the brakes work fine just a grinding feeling occurs when i brake and car slows to about 15-20mph.
any help would be great! thanks

Try jacking up the car and spinning the wheels without the ebrake on to see if there's any resistance, could be a lot of things from warped rotor to bad wheel bearings. Even bad brake pads.

This problem sounds like one of three possible issues. All three can be fixed with the same solution.
Possibility 1) ABS is turning on during mild braking because one brake is locking up. Your mechanic should easily find this problem.
Possibility 2) ABS system is faulty and your mechanic does not know how to check it.
Possibility 3) You have a minor issue such as a warped rotor, rusted slider pins, etc and your mechanic isn't smart enough to find the problem so he blames it on the ABS and says it is normal.
Solution - Find a better mechanic

Actually my car does the same thing around 6 mph, whether I'm braking or not. (although I am normally braking when I'm going that slow). Also my ABS light comes on after about 105 mph.
It actually DOES feel like grinding. and it's always at the same mph, unlike warpage or debris in the pads, etc.
I have found no solution yet. I replaced one stuck caliper but it still does it. I took out my ABS fuse and it went away. Try that.

well my mechanic did change all my brake pads and re-sanded my rotors also bled my fluid too. i'll try taking out the fuse and driving it to see if it still gives me that issue.
if it was a warped rotor or rusted pin, wouldnt i get some vibration at other speeds as well? its not like a ACTUAl vibration but the brakes engage fine, just a really weird feeling on the pedal as if something was grinding.
should i be worried about any safety issues when i drive without the ABS fuse? of course ABS wont be active but just want to make sure it doesnt trigger anything else.
Thanks for all the input guys, i'm planning to take it to a second mechanic to see if they can find the issue.
