I have been noticing just recently that almost every time i take off and release the clutch that i hear a slight popping noise. Has anyone heard the same thing or have an idea of what might be causing the popping noise?

uhoh. try search for axle nut pop. Basically the axle nuts get loose and you have to retorque it/regrease it. theres a good DIY in the stickies, I think.

This sounds somewhat familiar. A couple of times when I started off a green light, I heard a sputtering/popping sound as well...and my car had zero acceleration.

I don't know why it happened, and it went away by itself and never had an issue with it for a while.

A few weeks ago, I was running real low on gas and was looking for a gas station...and the same thing happened again. I'm not sure if it was related or not. I'm curious myself about what causes this.

Sounds like it might be the clutch release(throw-out) bearing based on your description.
