Default Poor mans Alloy Battery cover

So I'm new to the s2000 scene and I'm still learning what parts are all out there for the s2k's. I purchased a GP battery cover and soon afterwards saw the alloy battery cover. I thought the alloy version looked much better but didn't want to go thru the hassle of trying to resale the GP version so I just went ahead and cut da b*tch.

Here are some pix of how I did it.

First I measured and masked off the rest of the parts I wasn't going to cut. Then I went ahead and started cutting away. After the cut, I did a test fit to see if there's any additional cutting necessary. It's going to look like arse at first, but nothing a little filing can't fix. I used a file that was flat one side and half mooned on the other. I took my time making sure all edges were smooth and the half moon was used at the corner to round it out. Then I picked up some black touch up paint to go over the edges. Last pic is the final product.

I might one day cut a little hole to be able to access the AC recharge line. Haven't made a concrete decision yet.

Very nice . I have the same cover and I never liked the idea of covering the battery just incase one day I needed a jump start or had to change the battery.

I agree. I only opened it enough so I can get or give a jump with no problems. Unless I go slim battery, then I'll be able to remove or replace while cover is still on. =)
