If it's truly a vac leak in the rear of the car, that points to evap emission canister area and the fact that it's only present under throttle also points to that area I.e. the purge valve opens under throttle and sends vac to the canister.

I'd check all of that stuff and keep an eye out for a P1457.

Jacking up the car and having a buddy to control the throttle while in neutral may help. The old hose to the ear trick works really well. Be sure to have some safety blocks in place. It's probably not a good idea to go through the gears on stands. Car could vibrate off from the torque, etc...ferris bueller ring a bell??

Not sure if it's tranny I did also notice the sound doesn't seem to get louder as the rpms climb it's definitely related to the throttle while in gear and not the rpms.

How likely is it that this could be related to a messed up exhaust valve from the adjustment, or a rear diff?

and I'll get it up on a jack this weekend and see what I can find. A hydraulic lift would be pretty nice right now

X2 on the lift. I must own one one day.

Really doubt it has anything to do with your valve job. I also really doubt that you can hear a vac leak while driving, but you never know. Diff or drive shaft... that's a possibility.

It's really going to take some further investigation. Just get back to us then
