The buzzing noise when I let off the gas at certain rpm's has reached unacceptable levels. I have to do something.

For those of you who had your clutch discs replaced because of the buzzing noise on deceleration, would you please share your experiences?

1. Did the noise go away?
2. If so, did it remain fixed? If so, how many miles have you driven since the repair?
3. If the noise came back, how many miles after the repair did it reappear.

I would appreciate it if you'd share your experiences. I have to make some decisions. The car didn't sound like this when I bought it; I'd never have purchased it if it did. It never sounded like this when it was under the 3/36 warranty; I'd never have accepted that. However, it's now 5 years old, has 35k miles, and there's no way in hell I'm keeping it if I can't fix it. Please help me decide what to do.

The noise is greatly reduced with the new clutch disc, but still present under some decel conditions. The 02 and newer cars use the same disc. Upon occasion they can make some of the buzzing at low RPM decel.

The buzzing does tend to get louder the more miles are on the car.

It's still a annoying noise, the clutch function is fine.

The change made a huge difference in my car. The new FD has stayed relatively quiet and I expect it will never produce the din that the orginal did.

My AP1 now has 16K miles on it. The buzz has evolved into a very tinny buzz sound (occasionaly) and switches to the normal buzz deceleration sound. It was almost unbearable the other day when I had the car out and drove for most of the day. I've been thinking about just doing an ACT PP and OEM or street disk but have been advised against it since many have said that the buzz goes away for a while but only to return. The clutch operation is fine. Maybe I can hold out 'till its time to replace the clutch since my S is out of warranty and doesn't qualify for a TSB.
What are some clutch setups out there that people are going to?

Harry, Chris, and foreversilver

Thanks for adding to the information. I'm beginning to feel better about replacing the clutch. Which is good, because overall I do want to keep the car.

My 02 occasionally will make some noise if I am paying attention for it. So, when are we doing the swap?
