Wow 0w30 I know most all the new engines out use 0w20 or 0w30 but I would not use it in my 13...almost 14 year old engine that calls for 10w30 dino standard oil.

Hope you enjoy the car.
The OEM filter is good.I personally run Wix oil filters in all my cars listed below.Amsoil 0w30 in my 03S has worked great since 1st oil change. Now has 94k.

One could make the argument that the viscosity is not there when you need it the most at startup. Remember the majority of engine wear occurs when the engine is out of operating temp. Personally I use Mobil 1 10w 30 with a Wix filter. Just turned over 140,000 today and still strong. In my opinion the type of oil is not as important as keeping it changed and topped off.

oh no the oil debate! i have been filling with just about 5.5 quarts and im NA with stock oil filter. id say start with 5 and keep checking the dipstick as you fill. make sure the car is leveled as much as possible. everyone has different results for some reason. personally i have never rub mobil 1, i have made the switch to amsoil but prior i was running pennzoil ultra which did a really good job. i havent seen any burning and the car is an autocross car.

Do your research. Even 0W oil is too thick at startup even when its not cold out. You want the lowest number possible for the number in front of the W, that will still be thick enough when engine is hot. Its tough for dino to do 0W, and still meet that requirement. That is one reason synthetic is so cool, its not a problem for it to stretch as far as, say, 0W-40.
The S revs so high its not easy for it to pump 40 weight at that velocity. There is a reason Honda specifies -30 weight, and its not only about mpg.
Use whatever brand you want, but I suggest a 0W-30 synthetic for the S.

well from my readings here honda actually tested the car and cleared it to run a 40 weight. though they never specified to run a 0wxx.

some good read before you make a choice. Many will attest to BITOG as a great source.

Oil has changed a lot since the late 1990's when Honda did their research into S2K oil specs. They never revisited that, so their specs are based on what oil was available then.

If you have an ap1, you probably burn oil. Mobil 1 is thin. I use valvoline. 5.8 qts and get a oem filter. I don't use oem filters, but everyone and their mother on here uses them.
