Ah...the whistle. It is a cool sound similar to a blow off valve. It increases with acceleration. Most likely an aftermarket AEM I or II intake. Open the hood of the car. The great AEM intake should present itself. The stock intake is a black plastic box contraption. If an aluminum tube is attached to the throttle body you have an aftermarket intake. It will be on the right side of the motor looking back. Usually Red or Blue in color but also "clear" I believe. It comes to the radiator goes left and then dips into the underside of the bumper. Anyways; if this is it consider it a bonus!

MY01 with 37k miles that's pretty low mileage. Regarding Whistle noise, just say your supercharger is charging up and tell the idiots that the jump at 6k rpm is because of your supercharger.

Mine started that at 26,000 miles. Sounded like a cricket chirping during moderate acceleration between 3000 and 40000 rpm. The dealership disassembled the entire intake system and found nothing wrong. After the dealership bitched at Honda US, Honda admitted that it was a common noise and they didn't have any idea what caused it. Car now has 127,000 on it and it still does it...

doubt you'd find anything wrong with the intake system to begin with...

Yea my '00 S2 has done that since the day i bought it, i figured out that it was the butterfly valve in the throttle body, it makes the noise as air passes by it like when you blow into the top of a bottle, use it to ur advantage and scare the sh*t outta some civics
