4.77's don't whine at all. I say the assembly is messed up.

Well we'll see what happens. I sent Ben (s2kpuddydad) my OEM 4.10 diff to get an estimate on rebuild/reinforce and later on today I'll be sending my 4.77 diff from Scot to the shop that did the initial assembly for inspection. Ben believes something was most likely misaligned during install but we'll see what happens.

UPDATE: Here are s2kpuddydad's findings after opening the differential I bought from Scot. If the pics don't work now I'll fix them after work today.

[QUOTE]Hey Sean,

Well.....I went through the rear today and took some pics to try to help you understand what is the issue with the rear they sent you/me.

This first pic is of the rear as it was sent to me with the shipping box behind it. Take note to the white stuff between the gear teeth, that is lapping compound. When you buy new KIA 4.77 gears the gears are covered in this stuff and it is suppose to be cleaned off the gear before the gears are used in a build. Lapping compound is very abrasive and if not removed it can cause premature wear of all internal moving parts.

Now that you have pictures to base your opinions off of. Please let me know what you think Scot should arrange in order to make right on this deal.

I say get a refund from Scott, and then have Puddy build a diff for you. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I did
After a few Pms Sean sent me his original rear from his car that had broke.
I replaced the gears and everything else that was damaged then, performed a balanced assembly on the rear, all shipped back to him at no charge. The reconditioned rear is in Sean's car and running smoothly I happy to report
