I guess I will bring this thread back from the dead.
I finally got to take my car to my old mechanic where I used to live last weekend- his shop is 150 miles away but I was there so I took my car by to let him check it out. This guy is a Honda guru, I pretty much do whatever he says to do.
Anyway he drove the car and said that I have "intake whistle" and that there is no mechanical problem with the car. He said that he has replaced several serpentine belt tensioners that were noisy but that this is not the same noise.
He told me that I need to remove the intake system, clean it out, and then have someone clean the throttle body. He also suggested that Honda may have changed suppliers for the OEM air filter at some point and that the filter may be part of the problem.
Kinda funny that he heard the noise immediately but the local dealer couldn't. Not to knock the local guys, but whatever.
I guess eventually I may try to clean the throttle body, but since it's not a mechanical problem I'm not too worried about it right now.

okay I dont want to point out the negative, but we have quite a few number of people that have the same noise... how did you guys get rid of it?

Just a thought...I wonder if the noise is air moving out of the Air Pump Flow Control Valve (the valve with the two vac hoses and one wiring connector mounted to the stock intake) You could cap it temporarily and try it out.

I have this exact "problem" as well. I've had a K&N FIPK installed for a few months now, and I have found that this "squeal" or "whistle" has become more noticeable. I can hear it between 3,000 and 3,500 RPM. It is most pronounced on my car in 2nd and 3rd gear under "normal" acceleration.
Until reading this thread I had suspected the source to be my modified intake. It always sounded like the squeal was bouncing back at me from the front right part of the car (as if coming off a wall or similar...) and was more pronounced if I was on a small house lined street. It was hard to pin it down, and occassionally made me wonder if it was coming from the rear right. I chalked those instances up to acoustics and settled on the source being our possessed intakes/throttle body.
I have felt no ill performance from the car, and I have never had any problems whatsoever. Personally, I think it's just something that I'll get used to (a la clutch decel. buzz) whether I like it or not!

I have got the same problem 2500 - 3500rpms under load only , partial throttle say 10-20% i can keep it squealing for some time. I thought it might be pinking at first but this doesn't sound quite the same.
Ill check the vac hoses, seems very odd indeed.
If anyone found a solution to this im listening...
Barry.

It's a normal intake noise. Since the stock air box muffles intake noise it's not very noticable until you install a CAI.
It's interesting that the noise is present in the F20C and the new 2.2.
