play in axle, means it's bad?

The noise is a clank clank clank right when I go off throttle. Sounds metallic if that makes sense. No vibration.

I jostled the axles again and it must have been the shock going up and down when I was checking play. They are solid besides the in and out of the hub play.

from my experience a shock should never have play unless a fair bit of pressure is applied, and even then it still feels dampened. check your wheel weights,etc. The noise almost sounds like when your coming to a stop and you clutch in, sometimes you get some noise from the output shaft i believe it is? Maybe check another s2000.
