Pinnacle brake rattle...
I already ran a search and it seems to be down, but anyway.
I installed a set of pinnacle brakes this weekend for a friend of mine and
I find that at any speed as long as you dont have a pinky toe ont he brake pedal they rattle up front.
Upon further inspection te pads are very loose inside the caliper and are rattlin around.
Is there a fix for this or should I just shut up and enjoy the sweet sweet stopping power
of this monster? It is slightly annoying and I could probably get over it but it is not my car and I am
not sure my customer will. I will have to devise a fix if none is available I suppose and sell it to Rick H.
Any comments welcome and thanks for listening.

I too had this problem... I purchased a sheet of stainless steel and fashioned two brake pad spring clips, one for each caliper. Each clip sits at the bottom of the caliper under the brake pad and hold the pads up against the top of the caliper. Top in this case is the direction the pad is pushed by the rotor. The clips take the shape of a squared off U. The pads rest on the legs of the U and the legs have a bend in them that push the pads up. The legs are also wide enough that as the pads wear and move closer to the rotor they will still rest on the legs. The base of the U has tabs that are bent down and hold it in place. I suggest getting a piece of paper and cut it to shape to use as a template, that worked for me. Hope this helps...

Thanks, before I checked the posts I had the same idea. Maybe it needs to be addressed by the manufacturer but its quicker for me to fix in the mean time. ill post pics of the fix tommorow.

The brake pads are free floating in the calipers . These calipers are racing calipers , they are designed to have no friction against rotor when brakes are not being used . On stock brake systems the manufactures install "anti-rattle " clips , pieces of stainless steel to keep pads from moving . The only noise that I hear on my car are the times I go from forward to reverse ( I am only using my car on the street at the moment , with hot street pads . The racing pads will make more noise ) A easy fix that you can try , if the rattle is a problem ,put a light weight spring over pad retaining spacer to push pads apart , this will keep pads against pistons and will eliminate most of the rattle . If you design any clips on your own , keep pad at the bottom of the pad retaining shelf , don't push pad up toward pad retaining bolt/spacer. I have over 10,000 miles on the mule , with no problems , pad wear has be even on both racing pads and hot street pads ( slight taper from leading edge to trailing edge ) . If any one has any questions you can E-mail me at dwb1@suite224.net or call me at (440) 964-6584 .

PS
If plating is not worn from pad face , pads will rattle bad . It take a lot of miles to wear off plating . Brakes will act very strange until plating is off . Take your time to wear off plating , so it is removed evenly .
