A member on the Southern Ontario forum made an interesting suggestion this evening. He thought that the thrust washers may have given out on me and clogged the oil pump pick up screen which then killed the bearings and caused low oil pressure or vice versa. That sounds very plausible as the only sign that I had of an issue was increased vibration through the clutch pedal at the engagement friction point. My nephew was driving at the time perhaps he let the clutch out too hard, it didn't seem like he was abusing the car in any manner but I can't say how he was operating the clutch the two times he took the rpms up high. It may have been enough to kill the thrust washers and then affected the oil pick up screen. I did see metal pieces in the oil pick up screen.

When I last ran at Mosport raceway I was running Amsoil 5w30, proper S2k Honda oil filter. I changed the oil 2 weeks ago to Castrol 10w30 Edge with Titanium, proper S2k Honda oil filter. The pressure plate is the factory ap1 with 60k miles on it.
The crankwalk scenario seems most plausible as I was getting most noise and vibrations through the clutch pedal , the engine was eerily smooth on our last drive. Pehaps my Nephew(who was driving) was hammering the clutch without me realizing it.

What do you mean by hammering the clutch?
You only put a load on the thrust bearings when you press the clutch pedal.
How fast you press the clutch or how quick you release it is not an issue for the thrust bearing.
Riding the clutch - by bad adjustment or by foot - IS however.
Maybe this is the price you pay - eventually, on some occasions - having the push-clutch-to-start "safety" thing.
As if the rest of the world is unsafe without......
I used to push the clutch to make it a little easier for the engine to start at cold temps - no gearbox with thick oil to accelearte during starting.
As soon as I installed the ACT I stopped doing this.
Even without a stronger PP I would not press the clutch to start anymore.
How many thrust bearing shavings would it take, in square mm or inch, to block the oil pump inlet enough to create any kind of starvation?

Well, it's just getting to the point of speculation (on my part) so I hope to have the engine / block removed in the near future and I'll hav a better idea of what happened. I appreciate all of the replies, theories, and advice thus far from everyone. Thanks. If anyone has an f20 block for sale please let me know.

What I meant was the price of (scrap) copper being high.
The current, 4 May 2012, price of scrap copper is about 6.33 Euro / kilo = 6330 cents per 1000 gram = 6.33 cents per gram.
JFUSION only needs to find 158 grams of bearing to get a Euro for it.
(you do the math for the Dollar )
