Picked up an S2000 in Indianapolis and driving to Los Angeles with Vibration
So I picked up this 2004 S2000 NFR today after flying in from LA this morning.
Original owner. 55 year old lady. 50k miles. Great condition.
Only downside is that I feel this vibration on the rear wheels.
So I took it to a tire shop before I started my trek back home to rebalance the tires.
It helped a little bit, but the issue is still there.
I think its pretty much this problem on this thread :

Only issue is I still have about 2000 miles to go.
I'll be driving to Tulsa, Oklahoma today.. and then tomorrow driving to Albuquerque, NM.. and then home on Sat to Los Angeles.
My question is... is it okay to drive this car with this vibration from the rear for the next 2000 miles?
It's bareable.. but just wanted to make sure it wont ruin anything else.. Perhaps I should try to get it fixed?
Thoughts? Input? Tips? Anyone know a shop or an s2ki member along the way home who could help?
Thanks in advance! Much appreciated!
(At a starbucks right now but hitting to road again as I have another 8 hrs to Tulsa, OK)..

I think you got the answer from that linked thread. Swap the buckets or the entire axles from one side to the other when you get home. If you keep heavy accelerations to a minimum you'll be fine for the trip back.
That lady you bought the car from surely hit VTEC frequently.

I'd say check the differential mounts. She doesn't sound like she knows how to heel and toe.

I highly doubt she did. That's why I'm possibly thinking now it might be something else?
Is there anything else that would cause this issue?

FYI you can't swap the entire axles from one side to another because they are different lengths. The buckets can be swapped though.
I would take it to a local shop and tell them to simply swap the buckets depending on severity. Many people drive thousands of miles with light vibrations until they become intolerable.
If you do take it to a shop there is a really great DIY here so you can ensure they don't do what is more than necessary: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/241...diy-with-pics/
A professional shop should be able to do it quite quickly.

Although you did not say, it might be something as simple as old uneven tires. If those suckers are getting up there in years and/or worn (sitting for long periods in the garage) it may be them despite having them rebalanced. Occasionally for me, that has reared its head over time, looked at all things mechanical, but when I replaced tires, problems evaporated. (other cars)
