A number of members were kind enough to share their experiences regarding the replacement of the clutch disk because of the "buzzing" noise when you let off the gas at certain rpm. Thank you for your responses; they encouraged me to go ahead and try it rather than just getting rid of the car.

I've only got about 100 miles on the new clutch disk, but the change is DRAMATIC. I spent the first 50 miles driving with the top up and repeatedly decelerating from 4k to 3k rpm. I'm not sure that I hear any noise I don't hear when accelerating through the 3-4k rpm range. I wouldn't drive the car with the top up before, because the noise was so irritating.

If the new disk remains quiet, I may have to retract a few of the "I'll never own another <expletive deleted> Honda product!" comments that were inspired by the Yugo-like noises my car used to make. S2000 ownership is enjoyable again!

I was skeptical until several of you stated the fix had worked for you, and it's not an inconsequential amount of labor to install the disk. Knowing that it had worked for others made it worth trying.

What "fix" are you referring to... new clutch disk install????

I don't think it comes back anywhere near as bad as with the original disks. My car surely sounded like a bucket of bolts before the change, and the new disk after well over 15K miles might be a bit noisier than initially is perfectly acceptable.

Mine is in for about 12500 kms (8 months) and no problems yet
It was making a lot of noise with the old disk (especially deccelarating in 3rd, that made me think it was the gearbox) up to a point I was going to take it to a Honda dealer during my holiday, I was afraid to drive it home (1500 km).
The dealer I bought the car from replaced it under warranty.
They showed me the old disk and you could rattle 3 out of the 4 the springs by shaking the disk in your hand.

Hope the noise goes away! did anyone throw in a lightweight flywheel while they were at it?

I have the clutch buzzz really bad in my 01.

What does it take to fix the problem permenately? A completely new clutch/flywheel/preasure plate?

I have tried to get 3 dealers to replace it with no luck.

IF it comes back, I'll be careful to get rid of the car before it gets so loud that no one in their right mind would buy it.
