The technical term hear is "sidewall compliance". The same 17" tire is less compliant then the 16". To maintain handling you would have to find a tire of like sidewall stiffness at 17". 17 & 18" can be MUCH better but is a question of finding one in the right compliance range for the driving at hand. Once again....I defer to Honda Engineering and keep my 16's......but oh ther are some really sweet wheel out there. Hopefully someone will answer you question so I can move to phase 2 (i.e. justifying 17/18 wheels to the wife)!
