Default Pennzoil Platinum at Autozone - Special

Hi guys,

Has anyone ever used the Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 full synthetic??

There is a special at AutoZone for it and it gets outstanding reviews for other Hondas and many cars/trucks.I'm going full synthetic this weekend when I do my oil change and after doing a lot of reading here I think I want to avoid Mobil 1, although I did pick up a Mobil 1 oil filter for this change.

Any thoughts on Pennzoil Platinum??

My car runs excellent with Castrol EDGE 10w-30.

s2ki almost universally recommends the OEM Honda PCX filter (made for the s2000 only).

Fram never made a Honda OEM filter. It used to be a company called Filtec, but i believe they were replaced with someone else recently. Most of the oil filter honda still has in stock are made by Filtec, at least for the S2K.

As for oil, I've seen a lot of motors run great with 300,000+ miles on Mobil 1 and the inside is just CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. So I will most likely never switch to anything else. If my TCT fails, I'll be using a Billman replacement to fix it anyway.

The Mobil 1 filters are ok, I use them occasionally when i run out of Honda ones and don't feel like driving all the way to the dealer for it. I usually just try and keep a few on hand. I think the Mobil 1 filters are just to overpriced for what you get. Unless you can get them on sale.

I think I've used Pennzoil at least twice - I get whatever is on sale and fits the spec.

I use whatever is the cheapest synthetic 10W30 the local Walmart has on the shelf, although I have been avoiding M1 which seems to burn off. The last changes were Pennzoil Platinum which is working just fine.

Afaik, the regular Honda filter 15400-PLM-A02 is made by Fram. The 15400-PLM-A01 is (was) made by Filtec. The S2000 uses the PCX filter (15400-PCX-004) which is made by Filtec or Toyo Roki, depending on if it's made in the USA or Japan.

Regardless of who makes the filter, it would always be to Honda specs if it is Honda branded.
