Default Passenger Airbag Removal

I tried searching this, but found no useful info, so search nazi's.. blow off! lol

I am wondering how I would remove the passenger side airbag, I have an 02, and would like to create some kind of "cabinet" there that I could pop up, maybe with an LCD screen, VAFC and guages or something. Anyone have an idea on how I can accomplish this?

Check your state laws regarding removal of air bags if you haven't done so already Randman. It might be illegal for a licensed vehicle in your area. Laws vary from state to state. I'm glad mine is faily lax on the issue. Bye bye stock steering wheel. Just a heads up.

...what they dont know wont hurt them... I dont see why it would be illegal to remove the passenger side airbag, just tell them I never have a passenger in the car. But besides it bieng legal or illegal, anyone know how to do it?

Since this is written in the Helm manual, I guess it's nothing you couldn't find out for yourself anyway.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at LEAST 3 minutes before beginning work.
2. Remove the passenger side lower dash cover. (It's got about 6 clips that are buggers to get out without breaking one or two. Reach under and up and you can feel them. You must yank like crazy on most of them to make them "snap" out.) Then disconnect the 2P connector you'll find.
3. Remove the 3 mounting nuts on the underside of the airbag assembly. Pry the airbag assembly out from the top. The airbox top has "pawls" all along its edge that attaches to the dashboard. (There are like little protrusions that need to clear the opening.) The harness you disconnected comes out with the assembly.

OK, you didn't hear it from me.

NOTE: edited to read "at least" 3 minutes after battery disconnect.
