Hello guys, Im reviving this thread because today I finally got the replacement engine that Im going to be using to fix my car.

My old engine wasnt looking very good, the head, valves, retainers, pistons were really damaged so I decided to replace it with a newer, lower miles and functional engine. I will post pictures later on

My question now is, how complicated is it and whats a good price for this kind of job ? The engine that I'm going to be using is a JDM F20c, it brought everything on it except the transmission, flywheel and clutch but I already have that.
Any help appreciated.

This swap isnt documented a bunch. The vtec solenoid is apparently different.. This guy says he used the usdm vtec solenoid along with usdm harness and ecu without issue

Prices to swap will vary but as always you get what you pay for. Its a pretty time and labor intensive job although I seem to remember reading people on here have done it in a day or so. I spread my engine swap out over a couple of weeks as I ended up having to replace the motor mounts (broke one while dropping the old motor out). If you dont know the mileage or wear on your clutch i'd go ahead and plan to replace that too (always oem).

$1000 is a good/fair price for a complete long block swap on this car.

I finally have my old engine out of the bay, today Im gonna try to clean the bay as much as possible, its looking pretty dirty down there, any suggestions you guys would recommend me to do now that my engine bay has no engine in it ?

Thanks for that link, I'll see how my swap goes, my OEM clutch is almost like brand new, about 3k miles since I installed it, so I guess I wont replace it just yet.

Simple green. Dilute it with some water, and scrub, then rinse, make sure you don't douse the electrical stuff obviously.

Thanks for your suggestion, they didn't have the exact same one at the local Walmart, instead they had a Simple Green all purpose cleaner for cars and thats what I used.

I'm happy with the results, its not perfect but the difference is night and day, I would've loved to just remove everything from the bay clean it and paint it, but that's too much time consuming and I want to get this swap done ASAP as I really miss my baby ;(
