I do have a question though. Is there a certain way that the check valve needs to go? I honestly had no idea that piece had any mechanical use other than connecting the two hoses.

Yes. It's a one way valve, you probably have it installed backwards if all the hoses are properly connected.

Have you considered the izze air pump simulator?

I am not familiar with that, got a link or a description somewhere? I'm open to any ideas, I just want to get it fixed so I can quit worrying about it. I want to be able to pass inspection here in El Paso, TX.

http://www.izzeracing.com/Site/Honda...Simulator.html

The simulator allows you to completely remove the air pump system. I am a big fan, used it on my AP1 but in this case I don't think it is necessary at all. It seems like a simple case of operator error, you should be able to get this fixed without resorting to the simulator. There is no reason for an intake to cause this CEL.

Yes. This is it. In my case I tried everything to get the CEL to go away. I mean everything. My car was just being very stubborn and having a CEL would cause me to fail inspection here in CA.

It's an idea, but try the more common fixes first! The simulator was $70 and now I don't have to worry about the air pump system what so ever.

You can by pass that metal tubing. Just follow where both tubes go and plug the hose into the final destination. One should route into the intake manifold, the other should route to a valve on the back side of the intake manifold. Take a couple of pictures of how you have your tubing routed. I guarantee you I can spot the issue, I'm very familiar with that system unfortunately.

The big end of the check valve goes to the metal "octopus" of fittings up by the intake manifold. The valve steps down in diameter on one end. The step down end goes to the EVAP module (black box) as shown in the diagram. Look closely at you check valve and the diagram.
