Default P0108 - Manifold Absolute pres

Hello,

I was recently driving on the highway and I felt the guy getting sluggish and rolled into a gas station. The car idling but when I gave it gas it would respond very poorly, and I could not drive it more than a few feet.

I checked the CEL and got:
P0108 - Manifold Absolute Pressure Circuit High Input

I tried changing the MAP sensor and that did not work. I tried plugging one map sensor to the vacuum hose that goes to the top of the Fuel Pressure Regulator to see if it would work, and it didn't.

I also tried taking off the throttle body to clean out the channel that leads to the MAP sensor. I put it back on and no improvement.

At the moment, I can turn on the car, and it will idle for a few seconds before shutting off. If i give it gas, the motor barely responds.

Any ideas? Could there be an electrical problem somewhere?

Thanks

The code is for high voltage from the map sensor to the computer. Use a volt meter and check the wires.
tell us more info
have you had valve adjustment or any kind of motor work done recently?

BUMP!!! Owned a 2000MY and now a 2004MY. Never had this code come up until just the other day. Got in to start up and right after start up, immediately engine shut down. Pulled code and got the P0108. On my OBDII scanner "Manifold Absolute Pressure/ BARO Sensor high input". Per the Service manual "MAP Sensor Circuit High Voltage".
The stalling symptoms I found here DensoProducts.com: What are the Symptoms of a Faulty MAP/MAF Sensor?

If you have a manual and can get a scan tool to check the MAP sensor, put everything back together, including hoses, then follow the steps to check. Since my car kept stalling, the 3,000 rpm test I could not perform.
The next step was to
1. start with ignition off.
2. disconnect the MAP sensor connector.
3. Install a jumper wire between the female connectors 2 and 3, respectively the colors on the harness are green/white (2) and green/red (3).
4. Turn the ignition switch on (do not start)
5. Check the MAP with the scan tool (I used an Innova 5210) and the sensor in my situation read 0 I think. It should have been around 29-30 Hg.
If not, per the manual it stated to replace the MAP sensor.
Went and got a replacement that fit at Oreilly's. Manufactured by Standard, part number AS64. It even comes with an O-ring that I did not use.
After my MAP replacement, I disconnected battery for a few seconds and reconnected, then connected the MAP harness, and the car started up and kept idle.
Plan is to keep this cheaper part until I can get a DENSO MAP.

Hope this will help with the same situation.

I have just received my Denso replacement and noticed on a new MAP sensor looking into it there are three pins with two triangular plastic clips on top, and single rectangular one on the bottom. Matching these pins up to the female wiring harness, from left to right would be 3, 2, and 1. On the good new MAP the resistances were (approx.) : 3 to 2 = 4K ohms. 2 to 1 = 6K ohms. 3 to 1 = 2K ohms. On the bad MAP I got only 2K ohms between 3 and 1, so pin 2 seems to have opened. This could be a quick Denso MAP sensor test if you do not have a scanner.
