Default Oxygen Sensor Question

Oxygen Sensor Question on AP2 (04-05)
Ok so i got a bank 1 sensor 2 o2 sensor code.

Does an ap2 (specifically the 04-05) have the downstream o2 sensor reading most of the fuel trims? The reason why I ask is because usually the upstream sensor is the really expensive one because it reads the oxygen and fuel mixture and the downstream sensor just reads off of what the upstream sensor is sending.

The reason why I am asking is because the NTK upstream sensor is like 50 bucks and the downstream sensor is 160 and I have never run into that on any other car before. Just wondering if the ap2 (04-05) is different. Ap1 and Ap2v2 are completely different I know.

I just need to buy the right o2 sensor and I just find out hard to believe that the downstream sensor is so much more than the upstream, but i could be wrong!

Btw im buying the NTK - 24250 (downstream) and the upstream sensor is NTK - 24249.

Buy OEM Denso sensors. Rock Auto stocks the appropriate Denso direct fit sensors for our cars. Other brands have been known to cause running/performance issues.

Good luck!

I see the "OEM Sensor" (36531-PCX-014) listed on Honda parts sites (like majestichonda.com) for $240ish. The equivalent Denso sensor is part number 234-4124, and sells for $90-100 from Amazon or other retailers. Is Denso the OEM sensor manufacturer?

Yes, OEM sensors are Denso units.

I'm actually in the middle of having to do this as well. Proof here: http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-6...6b3Ldgj-X2.jpg

I have an 04 and it seems the majestic number for my car is 36532-PZX-A01 and the Denso number is Denso 234-4364. Anyone know why there are such different parts than the one listed above?

Denso 234-4124 (listed above is $95 on amazon)

Denso 234-4364 (found through rockauto is $186 on amazon)

Thanks for the help guys.

The part numbers I posted are for AP1. 234-4364 appears to be the downstream (on the cat) O2 sensor for AP2. 234-4124 is the AP1 upstream sensor.

Honda has their own system for organizing/categorizing parts, hence the different part number. Same with Denso. The 36532-PZX-A01 is just a repackaged Denso 234-4364.
