I think he means palm the front of the shifter (the side facing the radio door) with your thumb pointing down and pull downward into 4th. I don't shift this way, but I've seen people do it before. Whatever you're comfortable with I guess.
3-4 is the easiest shift for me because you don't have to supply pressure in more than one direction. For example from 4-5, you have to push up and rightward to hit 5th quickly.

It's well known in the BMW crowd and backhand into 4th is the best shift technique to prevent misshift.

The above link has a step by step illustration on backhand shifting.

Limiters and safety features don't prevent damage from mechanical over revving. The Rev limiter doesn't work when the wheels are moving the engine...it's an electronic limiter, not a mechanical one.

Between the AP2 clutch delay valve and the upgraded retainers, I think you're fine. Depends how early you caught it.
Only way to know 100% is to pull the valve cover and check the retainers.

Retainers should be fine. That's the reason honda upgraded the retainers and lowered the rpm peak on the F22's, because too many engine failures due to driver errors (including myself) I really don't know what rpm you have to reach to create piston and valve contact but at 9K your f22 should be fine, above that you might received head or bottom end damage.
On the good note, down shifting to 2nd at 65-70mph doesn't sound that bad, according to my calculations.

this subject has been hit on a lot, yes ap2 do have upgraded retainers from ap1, but you still miss shift and led to human error.
Billman have a thread about this subject and its not easy just to look at the retainers and tell if its bad.
Some car have been driven 30k miles down until they see the broken retainers clearly.
When we hit redline fuel gets cut and it won't let you go any further no matter what, but when you misshift its on you buddy. Be careful next time, you should be okay for now though.

if anything you probably got a shit ton of revbouncing. if your engine has that few miles on it that you haven't even done your first scheduled maintainence, i wouldn't worry about it...engines can handle errors sometime...but not over long periods of time, and from what you're saying, it didn't experience it for long. but, can't hurt to check though!
