Over-Rev Question?

actually your analogy is flawed.
The correct one would be.
You ate two pieces of candy and immediately worried that it caused a cavity so you went to the dentist for a cleaning and xrays that you really didn't nead because it takes a lot more than 2 peices of candy to cause a cavity. But it makes you feel better to spend the money on xrays, so more power to the dentist.
A valve adjustment, like a tooth cleaning is a good thing. You should have both of those done on regular intervals.

Analogy aside, it's not worth getting our tails in a knot over. He got close to redline, maybe went over, mayby not. Maybe there was damage, maybe not. He's OK with the 90 bucks for a valve adjust and a "free" inspection by Billman. Let's put this on the shelf and wait to hear back after the work has been done. At that time, we can all either give a big sigh of relief or do an "Oops".

So unless you just don't take care of your motor... ie never changes oil, ect... the motor should be fine.

FYI-
IMO if you went from 6th to 2nd you wouldn't worry about your engine bro...you would be more concerned with your transmission and hope that you didn't leave the clutch on the freeway somewhere. If you over-rev I doubt there will be engine damage, if any at all. Honda motors are made to spin at very high RPM's and can take that type of thrashing.
If you were at 65mph...no worries mate.

It might also mean that #4 is the closest to the downpipe of the exhaust manifold and the firewall which mean more hot air get's trapped there. When you're moving forward it's only safe to assume that the hotair is getting pushed there.
