we need retainers that can handle an S2000 overrev and last at least as long as OE retainers. .....spoon,jun,toda,skunk....anyone?
Yes there is another company that builds a spring/retainer kit, Brian Crower or "BC".

ps. here's a quote from an email discussion with the manufacturer of one of the more popular Ti retainer kits

[QUOTE]Ti retainers can wear more rapidly than steel retainers.

Go out to your car.

Get onto a highway (or a race track), and get the speed up to about 110 in fourth gear.

Try to shift into fifth, but put the car into third instead.

See what happens.

exactly, the motor does have a rev limiter, but if you force it to spin too fast (by making the wheels spin the motor by misshift) no force on earth will stop any damage.

The motor will not rev past 9K on its own, though. You have to actually force it by having the wheels power the motor instead of vice versa.

As far as I know, OEM retainers are best for a street car. The AP2 ones are the way to go.
