Default Over rev

First of i have a 03' with 81,XXX

i was at 9k in 3rd went to shift to 4th and hit 2nd by mistake and over reved.

now it idle normal at 900 / 1000 but its a little sputtery and saound like its running on mild cams at idle

runs fine and all still pulls good but the idle worrys me?

I'd say your engine is about to take a dump.

DON'T redline it and take it directly to the dealer to have the valves look at before you blow a connecting rod through the block.

Cracked retainer or bent valve FTL!

Your engine is screwed.. take it in before you do MORE damage.

i took the valve cover off. spring and retaners are good and bad idel comes and goes

You can't tell from the top if the valves are bent. Get it into a shop and stop posting until you do.

I saw a issue of a Honda magazine that did the same thing you did. The tip on one of the valves(the part that you put the retainers on) broke off.

omfg get that car to a reputable shop or dealer NOW, nothing about that engine is right anymore

Billman has pictures of cracked retainers that you can't tell until you look reeeeeally closely... those are the things that continue working... until they don't.

dude you messed up your car...probably some cracked retainers. i had the same symptoms on my car... funny idle but still pulled strong, cracked the head open and found all my intake retainers cracked and on top of that one retainer shot me in the eye because the valve stem broke. i almost dropped valve but luckly i didnt.
