Original Oil timing issue for a garage queen
I have a new 05. I won't drive it more than 2,500 miles per year. The original oil is supposed to be used for 7,500 miles. This means I won't have an oil change for three years! That can't be good - the manual has mileage/time intervals for all changes after the first one. So, when do I go for my first change? I plan to stick with the standard Honda dino oil.
I asked the service manager and he kind of scratched his head and said to change it at the one year mark, no matter the mileage.
Thanks for your input.

I would change it before you put it away the first season. i do not know if the oe break in oil is available to buy. assuming it is not, i would just put regular dino in or see if you can some aftermarket break in oil that will work with our motors

Take a look at this post by Road Rage. He is our resident oil expert:

You should ALWAYS follow what the book says in terms of "mileage vs time", whichever comes FIRST. I doubt anything has changed for your '05, therefore, every SIX MONTHS if your mileage doesn't add up fast enough. Nevermind about "if" or "what" this magic factory fill break in oil is. It can contain PIXIE DUST for all we care. It's been discussed many times in the past about what this "special" oil is and why it's "special". If you're worried about it, put some of that stuff that RR suggests into the oil when you change it.
